Gin Wigmore: The Last Word - "Blood to Bone"

Gin Wigmore talks to Last.fm about writing, naming, ordering and collaborating on her new record "Blood to Bone"

Virginia "Gin" Wigmore (87.8k listeners) is back with her third studio record titled Blood To Bone and she gifted Last.fm an illuminating narrative as to how the album came to be.

"I just wanted to be at a point where I was trying new things... I didn't want to do anything that was comfortable" - Gin Wigmore

The New Zealand born singer-songwriter started making music at the tender age of 14 and originally pursuing a teaching career, Gin has trudged through some heavy handed writing periods like chronicling the loss of her father at a young age, as well as collaborating with groups like Smashproof as well as Ryan Adams & The Cardinals.

Following her critically acclaimed sophomore effort Gravel & Wine (which was featured on the TV hit Greys Anatomy as well as a feature on the 2013 Vans Warped Tour), the now 29 year old Gin is feeling more adventurous in her music making. Wanting to see how far she could go in to different realms and where she could take her voice, she worked with writers in the hip-hop and electronic worlds, while keeping her feet firmly planted in her rock and roll roots that was instituted by her family singalongs.

Check out a live gallery from her recent Chicago show at Schubas Tavern!
