With their first new song in nearly four years "The System Only Dreams in Total Darkness" is a rocking return. Just listen to that squiggly guitar solo. While it's callback to their previously feral tendencies of Alligator, it still retains the elegant packaging of Trouble Will Find Me, making it a brilliant reconciliation of past and present sounds.

While a stylistic departure from Bangerz-era Miley, "Malibu" is a sunny romp of a song, and one that's organic outgrowth of her maturity as a writer and performer.
