Lorde - Supercut

Lorde's Melodrama is likely to be the best pop album of the year and "Supercut" is one of the best tracks on it. Over a whirlwind of electric beats, Lorde distills her latest relationship to a highlight reel. The feel-good montage is of course, only possible in hindsight. But who can't relate to reliving the highs of nostalgia in the midst of your regrets? If Lorde is capable of music this insightful at twenty we can only imagine the revelations she'll make by middle age.

Hercules & Love Affair - Ominion (feat. Sharon Van Etten)

Hercules & Love Affair have a tendency to work with some of music's most expressive vocalists.(Just listen to " Blind" featuring Antony Hegarty). On "Ominion" the electronic outfit is joined by Sharon Van Etten, whose breahthy voice flutters and stutters along with the woozy beats, lending their music a newfound vulnerability.

Paramore
- Passionfruit/ Hold On We're Going Home (Drake cover)

Six or seven years ago it would have been an unfathomable career move for Paramore to cover Drake. But today it's a logical progression of their pop-leaning tendencies. With their cover, the trio still retain their new wave swagger but given the songs smooth texture Hayley Williams' vocals get a little extra room to shine.

Queens of the Stone Age
- The Way You Used To Do

With the announcement of Villains their first album since 2013, comes its first single "The Way You Used To Do. The Mark Ronson-produced track is spiky bit of blues rock. It gleefully blends QOTSA's aggressive sound with a more danceable edge courtesy the dude responsible for the "Uptown Funk" phenomena. It's a sound that makes far more sense in your ears than on paper.

DJ Khaled - Wild Thoughts (feat. Rihanna and Bryson Tiller)

Even when Rihanna isn't putting out new music of her own, she still manages to be everywhere. Some might say her ubiquity is her greatest asset, as her confident presence can bolster any pop song. That's certainly the case with DJ Khaled's "Wild Thoughts " anyway. The Santana-sampling tune is immediately elevated by RiRi's universal coolness.

Chelsea Wolfe - 16 Psyche

The singer-songwriter dives head first into doom metal. It's a blistering sonic assault made all the more peculiar by her dreamy vocals. An unexpected jam.
