Mother Falcon: Naked and Alive (Last.fm Sessions)

Mother Falcon perform "Naked and Alive" upon the Girlie Action company rooftop

Under the worrying drip of a rooftop water tower, indie-rock-group-meets-symphonic-orchestra Mother Falcon congregated in the midsummer heat to deliver a seemingly treacherous two-song performance.

This was a relatively scaled back configuration of the band, which can feature up to 20 performers. Forming in 2008 in Austin, Texas, Mother Falcon is now three full-length albums deep. They just released Good Luck Have Fun, an album as unique as the band itself, on Universal Music Classics. It's split into two distinct conceptual parts; the first half of the album consists of more or less standard pop songs, and the second half is soundtrack work they did for a documentary called Starnation, which is about the video game Starcraft II, and the wider topic of video games as a spectator sport.

Though there were no Starcraft songs performed on this particular leaky roof, we did get two songs from their new album, which is out now.

Good Luck Have Fun is out now on iTunes and Amazon
