"It exceeded everything that I had fantasised about happening" are the words of a musician who is really truly onto something. Speaking to us before their debut London show at a sold-out Shacklewell Arms in Dalston, Ellen Kempner of Palehound appears focussed but also slightly in awe that she's able to travel the world and play her music for human beings who want to hear what she has to say.
Palehound's off-kilter melodies, enigmatic structures and unwavering honesty all come to the fore on the band's latest release Dry Food, which is finally getting a UK release by the great people at Heavenly Recordings. The album is special in that Ellen has performed all the instruments herself, but more special for the songs that the instruments form.
