Audio88 & Yassin are a German hip-hop duo that consists of the two rappers Audio88 (* 13. Januar 1983 in Leverkusen as Florian Kerntopf) and Yassin (* 29. Januar 1985 in Darmstadt as Yassin Taibi). They came in contact through MySpace and met each other for the first time on an El-P Concert. The first joint track was "Krieg ist cool". The two hit it off right away and released the joint album "Zwei Herrengedeck, bitte!" in 2009. A second part followed in 2010 and in the same year the third part "Das Gleiche wie immer, bitte".

In 2012, together with Morlockk Dilemma and Hiob, they formed the crew Die Bestesten, which released the 7'' "Ein Job für die Bestesten" in 2012.

In 2015, the album "Normaler Samt" was released, a reference to Blue Velvet and Torch's landmark rap album "Blauer Samt", respectively. Their feature appearance on the K.I.Z track "Was würde Manny Marc tun?" made them known to a larger audience.

In 2016, the duo founded the hip-hop music label Normale Musik, on which Audio88 & Yassin's fifth album, "Halleluja," was released on June 10, 2016. Guests on the album are Nico K.I.Z as well as DoZ9.

In addition to the distribution of music, the label takes care of live tours, concerts and merchandise of several artists, among other things. However, the focus is on the works of Audio88 and Yassin in duo and as solo artists.

On Feb. 12, 2021, their sixth album together, "Todesliste," was released.

Audio88 & Yassin's music is based in lo-fi hip-hop. The music is kept minimalistic, paving the way for the enigmatic and often sarcastic lyrics. Meanwhile, modern trap elements can also be heard in part on the albums. The first three albums are mainly about alcohol consumption and offer, like "Normaler Samt", a lot of lyrics about the meta-level of hip-hop. The hang-up Herrengedeck, however, was scaled back with "Normaler Samt". There are many allusions, both to hip-hop culture and to general popular culture in the lyrics. For the most part, the lyrics are very critical, cynical and sarcastic. In addition, a large part of the lyrics can be located in the so-called battlerap, so addresses both fictional and real opponents.
