#2. Historically I've written this one off as not recorded/produced very well, but revisiting it more attentively to write this comment, I think I've been sleeping on it unfairly! The piano is excellent and helps make it a little softer than other Greetings cuts while still sounding very much at home amidst "For You" in particular. I think I've been underrating the album cut here, even if I still prefer later renditions that go a little harder. Lyrically this one is great: follows Blinded as another coming-of-age song and a substantially less opaque one. Honestly a really great pair to open the album. This song elevates into the stratosphere live, both when I saw it with the band and again on Broadway. I'm appreciating the album cut much more in this moment than I have generally, but live it really does become one of the greats and an essential part of the canon.

For You is an epic visual storytelling time machine that encourages you to hop on for a ride down thunderous roads to simpler times for a journey through the heart of darkness where the fans feel so close and intimately personal with Springsteen like he's an old college buddy. This book is not just a fine addition to your collection, but is essential for any Springsteen fan. It is a treasure trove of pictures and stories that will not just take you for a ride down memory lane, but will leave you with an impenetrable sense of hope much the same way you feel cruising down the highway and having 'Thunder Road' blast from your speakers with the wind in your hair. When was the last time the written word did that?" www.foryoubruce.com

Another song that, when heard, should cause you to stand up from your chair. This is the way things have been and will be.
