Jefferson Airplane`s version is good,too...Darker and doir,though..Kantner`s voice sets the imagery, but the imagery of this/the song is the most heard!

Sublime - this album and the follow-up with Young are not only wonderful musically, but really capture that era.

"Wooden Ships" is a rock song written and composed by David Crosby, Stephen Stills and Paul Kantner (of Jefferson Airplane) in the late 1960s. The song was written and composed in Florida on Crosby's boat. Crosby composed the music, and Stills and Kantner wrote most of the lyrics. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wooden_Ships

Such powerful lyrics. Hard to beat this trio of master musicians. Their harmonies are so natural and powerful it sounds effortless. Graham Nash is to thank for most of these harmonies. If you haven't taken the time to listen to the hollies I highly recommend it. They are a powerful band and you can definetley tell were Nash developed his harmonization skills.
