"Turpentine" is an early song by Hole. It was first played at their second show and was removed from their repertoire very early, as the song seems to have evolved into "Garbadge Man" due to the similar chord progressions and lyrical content. The song was also the band's first studio recording, recorded first of the four songs done for the "Retard Girl" single. However, this recording wasn't released until 1997's My Body the Hand Grenade compilation album.
