The song’s title is a reference to the story “The Sneetches” by Dr. Seuss, in which some of the “sneetches”, fictional bird-like animals, have stars on their bellies. The ones with stars treat the ones without the stars as lesser beings. This ties into Courtney Love’s hatred of elitism, a theme that would be expanded with Hole’s next album, Live Through This.
