"You Were on My Mind" is a song written by Canadian singer and songwriter Sylvia Fricker in 1962. It was originally performed by Fricker and her then future husband Ian Tyson as the duo Ian & Sylvia. The duo recorded it in 1963 for their 1964 album, Northern Journey. They re-recorded the song in 1972 with as the band Ian & Sylvia & The Great Speckled Bird.

Their 1963 song "Four Strong Winds" (written by Ian Tyson) was a major hit in Canada. Many years later, the song was named as the greatest Canadian song of all time by the CBC-Radio program 50 Tracks: The Canadian Version.
