Kabaal (klankbaan) is a Pretoria-based folk-rock project. “It’s not a stage name,” says Floris Groenewald, the man behind the music, “but a band, of which I’m the only permanent member for the time being.” They play acoustic folk-rock, which varies from folk-pop songs, Afrikaans love songs, dark, dystopian landscapes, and covers and translations of Eels, Bob Dylan, Buddy Holly and Desmond and the Tutus tunes.
