I think this is my favourite LC album. I have grown to enjoy the production very much and the songs are some of the strongest he ever wrote.

Never really gotten into this one as much as most Cohen fans. I actually prefer The Future as far as his keyboard-drenched LPs go.

This is one of those definitive masterpieces that define its era rather than being defined by it. One of the few albums where obvious 80's production doesn't bother me.

I used to hate the production on this album, but I love it. It sounds very dated, but actually also very era-defining. It's aged better than Born in the USA or other synth led records, possibly because there's this kind of irony about it. If you listen to the way to teh way the songs are composed, they are actually superbly put together.

I can see why this is one of Tom Waits' favorite albums. Absurd and off-kilter, but in a hypnotic and hauntingly beautiful way.

The songwriting is excellent (hear the songs performed live on some of the recent live albums -- they sound so powerful), but the production is just so awful.

Maybe the best Cohen-Album ever. First We Take Manhattan, Ain't No Cure For Love and Everbody Knows are fantastic songs.

I think this is his best album - I love the production (and I normally don't go for this kind of sound) and the first 5 songs are all fantastic - First We Take Manhattan is particularly awesome, and Take This Waltz and I'm Your Man are gorgeous. Only Jazz Police doesn't quite work

I'm a little thrown by the tacky backing vocals and synths...but it was produced in the 80's. The same production doesn't deter from enjoying Prince albums (not that Prince and Leonard are similar artists). I'll focus on the lyrics, which are Leonard's strongest point in all his albums. Best tracks on here: I'm Your Man, First We Take Manhattan, and I Can't Forget.
