"Showing Out (Get Fresh at the Weekend)" is the debut single released by sister duo Mel and Kim in 1986. The song was originally intended to be a B-side to the group's first chosen single, "System", but was later flipped to be the A-side, and became a hit. A party song, the music video features the girls dancing and just having a good time. The song was originally turned down by Bananarama.
The song was an instant hit single on release, reaching number three on the UK Singles Chart in November 1986. In the United States, the single charted reaching the Billboard Hot 100 at number 78, the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks at number 23 and the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play at number 1.
