Hetfield really does a good job with the vocals on that track, adding some demented insanity to it. Nice pick! :)

Almost 20 years ago, unbelievable. In the meantime Michael Kamen passed away, Jason left the band, Rob moved in and the boys released 3 great albums (yes, I even love "St. Tin Drum"), an EP and a collaboration output. I think, this and "Garage Inc." helped them to gather back their strength to carry on... Maybe a new orchestral album could work out just right.

s&m was my last album. lost interest and all the money making/bling bling image/anti-music thing i heard from press as a teenager made me go to other bands. ^^ but i still honor their influence on metal music in general.

Great album. I wish the production was a little better, because sometimes it's hard to distinguish the strings from the guitars, but overall it's a very fun album to listen to. The string arrangements work particularly well on the 80s material, but they sound great on all the songs.

disco string arrangements on Thing That Should Not Be are hilarious. 10/10 cheese on cheese.

Some of the tracks work a lot better than others, but this album is a lot of fun.

I went through a phase where I liked this, but I've since realized that I was basically just burned out on the album versions. Now that I'm in the mood for the albums again, I recognize this for being just kind of an amusing gimmick.

@ hammerstrikebg many bands did it, the scorpions, deep purple...@ BlackMetallizer yes Michael Kamen composed the orchestra pieces. IMHO this live album is the best amalgamation of both worlds mainly because Metallica's songs are very suitable for Kamen's tasteful orchestration and arrangements.

@darkthrone Go check Rage's album from the 80s when they did mix heavy metal with symphonic orchestra...

I think I hate this album more than St. Anger. Who the fuck thought it was a good idea to play a symphonic Master of Puppets? I even get offended

[track artist=Metallica]-Human[/track] is nothing special. I don't like [track artist=Metallica]Of Wolf and Man[/track] much in the original, this version isn't better. Hetfield could have sung better in [track artist=Metallica]Master of Puppets[/track]. The album sucks from [track artist=Metallica]No Leaf Clover[/track] to [track artist=Metallica]Bleeding Me[/track], but everything else is beyond magnificent, bar the exceptions I've mentioned. Especially great are the intro (first six tracks) and the outro (last four tracks) of the album. The album has fully lived up to my expectations. I just wish they had played more "old" songs. Hopefully, they will do something like this in the future.

Hetfield sings great on this album and everything is very very good! p.s. The Unforgiven, Fade To Black and Sanitarium would be great in this album... I love it! [3]

I love Metallica AND symphonic music, but both together didn't really work for me. This album is somekinda of less awful Lulu to me.

@Astheron_: My thoughts exactly. Not bad, but in light of the strong way it was recommended to me, bit of a let down.

This album is great. I really love James' vocals... they sound so good... and different from his usual live sound. Master of Puppets is a big stand-out for me... but some of these songs (which are great by themselves) do not mix well with the orchestra... such as Devil's Dance and Fuel. But for the most part it's great. I just wish they would've spent more time blending the two.
