This Is a Long Drive for Someone with Nothing to Think About is the debut studio album by indie rock band Modest Mouse. The album was released on Up Records on April 16, 1996, on both CD and vinyl formats. The album was recorded in Olympia, Washington between October and November of 1995 and produced by blues artist Seasick Steve. The vinyl release contains two additional tracks, "Edit the Sad Parts" and "A Manic Depressive Named Laughing Boy". "Edit the Sad Parts" was later included on the EP Interstate 8, released in August 1996.

Modest Mouse are an American alternative rock band which formed in 1993 in Issaquah, Washington, United States. The band's original lineup consisted of guitarist Isaac Brock, drummer Jeremiah Green and bassist Eric Judy.
