"Naughty" (놀이) was originally only released on the physical album version of Red Velvet - IRENE & SEULGI's debut EP "Monster - The 1st Mini Album," and was then released digitally as a follow-up single on July 20th, 2020.
The track's lyrics were written by JQ and Yi Yeon Ji, composed by Moonshine, Louise Frick Sveen, and arranged by Moonshine and Yoo Young Jin.
The music video for "Naughty" (released on July 20th, 2020) revealed the most notable aspect of this release; the choreography. Choreographers Shim Jaewon and Spella spent 2 months creating a dance using tutting, a highly complex and intricate style of hip hop in which arms and hands are used to make angular shapes. In preparation for the release, Irene and Seulgi first learned the basics of tutting and overall spent 5 months perfecting the choreography.
"Naughty" was performed for the first time on July 24th on Music Bank.
