A hanging man in a tree is a reminder to the people who look at it that death is inevitable and the afterlife will occur at some point. The hanging man is a gateway to the other side. Gira doesn’t specify which side is filthy and which is clean, leaving it up to interpretation. Are we the living the filthy or the clean? Either way the hanging man is a harsh reminder to all who view it that death is coming for everyone. The hanging man, it would seem, denies the connection between thinking (thought) and his own existence – he is not what he just thought. - via Genius Annotations
