A snippet of the song was first teased by A$AP Bari and Wheezy in April 2020 on Instagram. The song was previewed again weeks later by Young Thug when he performed a portion of it during Offset’s self titled concert livestream “Offset and Friends” on April 29th, 2020. During the performance, Thug confirmed the track’s title, “Slatty”, and that his fellow friends and YSL label-mates Yak Gotti and Lil Duke were featured on it as well.
An early version of the track without Gunna’s verse leaked online on January 27, 2020.
