Description
A regular saxophone voice heard on the radio, TV shows and in films, David Sanborn is by far the hardest working jazz sax player today. At age 65, he often plays about 150 shows per year. He has released two-dozen albums (eight certified Gold and one Platinum), has won six Grammy Awards and has been a regular performer in Paul Shaffer’s band on Late Night with David Letterman since the ‘80s. Aside from guesting on Ween’s song “Your Party,” off La Cucaracha, and playing with the Allman Brothers Band during their ’07 run at the Beacon Theater, Sanborn has recorded session work with James Brown, Eric Clapton, Roger Daltry, Stevie Wonder, Paul Simon, Steely Dan and the Grateful Dead, to name only a fraction of the American musicians he’s worked with. His sound has been described as “forceful and tender, sensuous and subtle” and he is widely considered to be “among the best sax players of the past four decades,” according to Rolling Stone.
