Description

'Joyful, barefoot Americana at some unfixed intersection between folk and rock.' Pitchfork

One of America’s most beloved singer-songwriters, Will Oldham AKA Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy will come to Australia in 2012

This Australian tour – his first in six years - follows the release of his 16th studio album, 2011’s critically acclaimed, Wolfroy Goes To Town.

An enigmatic genius of many other musical guises (Palace Music, Palace Brothers) Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy’s gorgeous porch-strummin' ramshackle sound blends Americana, folk, roots, country and indie rock with literary lyrics that consistently endear audiences and critics alike. Selling-out concert tours worldwide (with Australia as no exception), his reflective, achingly melodic songs, resonate with a rare beauty and literary vision that is truly timeless.

For this very special Concert Hall performance, Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy is joined by the Cairo Gang (aka guitarist, Emmett Kelly) along with singer, Angel Olsen and drummer, Van Campbell, to perform songs that span his prolific 17 year career; a career that has not only inspired and shaped a generation of neo-folk artists like Iron and Wine's Sam Beam and M. Ward, but also seen his songs covered by likes of Johnny Cash (‘I See A Darkness’) , Bjork, PJ Harvey, and grunge pioneer Mark Lanegan.

Complimented by many multi-band member sing-a-longs, this beautiful and intimate concert experience is sure to leave the audience feeling, as the LA Weekly recently noted, ‘as if listening to a heavenly orchestra trying to sweep you off your feet’.
