Description
2013 has got off to a flying start for Mixmag, the world’s leading dance music editorial brand. Already enlisting the talents of Chase & Status, Boyz Noise and dirtybird, Mixmag Live continues to push its remit by bringing the best and most lauded artists from across electronic music to intimate and upfront spaces in London. They continue to embellish their stamp on London’s nightlife scene this April by inviting long-standing electronic legends, Groove Armada, to play their one and only UK date of 2013.
Spanning over two decades, eight lauded studio albums, countless collaborations and a Grammy nomination, Groove Armada’s infectious and highly skilled output of across-the-board electronica finds itself at the heart of the dance music canon. From big beat and electro smashers to downtempo, experimental house, the London-based duo are renowned for rocking dance floors and instigating a captivating club atmosphere from the off. Groove Armada find themselves firmly on underground terrain in 2013, after a number of releases on UK house and techno purveyor, Hypercolour, including the celebrated ‘No Ejector Seat EP’, with more extensive material rumoured to be released on the imprint moving forward.
Groove Armada are taking their headline slot super seriously, rolling out for a full four hours and promising a journey from disco to deep house, and more main room action as the night unfolds. Food Music label boss, dirtybird’s UK fort-holder and arguably the most exciting London-centric house producer of the year so far, Shadow Child is set to join the dynamic duo with a set brimming with the heady mix of bass that he’s famous for. Rounding off the bill is Horse Meat Disco’s Londoner by way of Italy, Severino, whose unadulterated music-loving roots will no doubt see him flit from disco and electro to soulful vocal house during his set.
Tickets are just £16 and generously include an exclusive Groove Armada mix CD and the latest Mixmag on entry, featuring specially edited guest pages and opinion from the duo. An extremely rare chance to see this bastion of underground electronic culture in an intimate venue, make sure you head down to catch the timeless and explosive Groove Armada in action on 20th April 2013.
