From 22-24 June the banks of the lake Chiemsee in Southern Germany will become an audiovisual laboratory for an event with a unique concept. “The Shining Festival” will be a platform for international media arts and electronic music and a space for visual and acoustic creativity and alternative thinking to come together. The result: A danceable artwork created from videos, slides, and light projections, perfectly suited to the accompanying music.

One week before the festival starts, a hand-picked group of international video artists will meet at the location to develop a concept for the festival. Well know conspirators such as M+M (Munich), BettyMü (New York), the video artist Detlef Hartung (Cologne) and Philip Geist (Berlin) have already confirmed their attendance. But it won’t be just the buildings and outdoor areas of the location that will be used as a backdrop for these audio-visual creations - the lake Chiemsee itself will become a stunning stage for the installation - but we’re not going to tell you exactly how!

During the festival weekend itself there will be numerous workshop: with titles such as Visual Aesthetics, VJing and “Visual Art and new media artforms: trying to reach a consensus” we promise to bring a diverse range of topics to the table. We’ve brought together experts such as Matthias Siegert from the Stuttgart Art Academy, Peter Becker from Munich University and Angelika Lepper from the Bauhaus University of Weimar. They’ll be helping to develop the final concept for the installation and also awarding prizes to the up-and-coming participants.

More than 100 DJs, liveacts and Bands from across the world will illuminate the multitude of dancefloors for two days and present a cross section of the most state of the art electronic music that exists today. (Source: http://www.myspace.com/shiningfestival)
