“Are You Going to See the Rose in the Vase, or the Dust on the Table?” is the 8th track and the second single from their upcoming 4th studio album, New World Depression.
The title reflects the central meaning of the song, referring to the idea that while on the outside someone’s superficial appearance may make them appear like they’re doing alright, the truth lies on the inside, where they may be struggling with a multitude of hidden problems, such as trauma, abuse, neglect, or drug addiction. The titular question highlights this, as it asks the listener, will they look just at the surface and see superficial beauty (the Rose in the Vase), or go deeper and realize the truth of the situation (the Dust on the Table, indicating a lack of actual use of the table).
