Real as shit. Imagine being in the pit as the start of Zeppelin Raids with the air-raid siren blaring

"War In" is a great song. It is not suprising that its the second most listened song of the band in all time. I am pretty sure that it will be the first with the next album :)

I'm just not understanding where the hate is coming from, I've seen around the internet that this album is quite polarizing. Some people have called this album a huge disappointment, but in my opinion this is easily in the top 5 albums of the year, and by easily, I mean quite probably in the top 2-3 by the end of it. Where Fear And Weapons Meet has every element of metal that I love smashed into one gratifying album that does not have a single miss on it. Even the WW1 propaganda themed songs used as intermissions between the relentless black and death-doom assaults are really solid and they add character to the album as a whole. I thought 2021 was a stinker of a year for metal, but here in the final quarter of 2021, we've been having some absolute quality releases dropped on us, and 1914 practically goes without saying. I have to question anyone who does not have this album gracing their top 10 this year, it was a phenomenal record overall that didn't miss on any level.

While I absolutely do believe that some instant gratification is beneficial to the listener, the best albums are the ones where I can gleam the true depth of the music after giving it several spins. This album did both for me. Instant gratification and layers to peel back and grow more appreciative of. I'd say this album ended up a 2nd-3rd place tie with Bleed The Future by Archspire. 1914 truly is a magnificent band and this album was their best album by a longshot.

They really toned down on the black metal for Where Fear And Weapons Meet. Sometimes it feels like a classy 90s death doom record. Although I really like the album, I miss the black metal elements which made them unique

Same thoughts here. I absolutely love the new album, will listen the hell out of it, but as a fan of black metal, I loved how they mixed BM with the death and doom elements.

And not many bands did this as good as 1914 did. To this day I still can't find anything similar

Exactly. When I found 1914, I instantly wanted to find other, mainly war-themed bands with this particular sound, but none of them had this amazing combination of black-death-doom metal so far.

Absolutely. I'm glad I love this particular style of music they did with this album, otherwise I'd be extremely disappointed. But I really, really miss the black-death-doom combo lol

While I agree with you at some extent, this record is indeed a bit more death than black, there are still some BM elements. FN .380 ACP#19074 appears to be, at least from what I hear and understand, more BM than DM. But in general, yes, in the previous records the mix was evenly distributed. In any case - fucking amazing band and record. Cheers.

I ultimately agree with you. I'm still yet to listen to the album again, although I liked it I'm dumbfounded by the "lack" of BM more prominently lol. People underestimate how rare good death/black metal is, if you look the related artists none come even close. Death Atlas by Cattle Decap is the closest, sound wise, I've found to 1914's latest albums

Loved the song with Nick Holmes. If Medusa by Paradise Lost was any good, it would probably sound like this. They should make him a permanent member lol

Deroth-Rus-
Тягучий и волокнистый дэтх с блацком на грани дума, с атмосферными басовыми завихрениями. Очень солидно и зрело звучит, да и концепция Первой Мировой добавляет интереса. Респект украинцам.

Such a great blend of black, death and doom metal, I definitely found a new fav band now. Listening to it while trying to read my great-grandfather's handwritten war diary from WW1 is the perfect thing to do on a cold winter evening.

And they have an amazing FB page too, where they constantly post WW1 themed photos. I can really get the feeling that the band (or at least the frontman) is deeply into this topic and it's not only a gimmick for the stage... My great-grandfather was a first lieutenant who fought at the Russian, Serbian and Italian frontlines in the Austro-Hungarian army (he was Hungarian). Thanks to this band I decided to finally do something with the diary and I'm about to digitalize and give it to a Great War themed research team in my country.

Unfortunately I don't know if it will ever be released in English, but who knows! So far I only read a battle that the Austro-Hungarian army quickly won against the Russians, but I guess things would get more struggling... He was at the frontlines for 32 months from the summer of 1914, when he eventually got heavily injured, but still survived the war (in fact, both world wars).

Then try Minenwerfer, their last release called Alpenpässe. Amazing music slightly different then 1914, but you will enjoy it as well while reading the diary.

Try Minenfeld, it's a WW1 themed death metal band with a slight black metal feel

What can i say - truly amazing band. The war theme, brings some Bolt Thrower reminiscents for me, although the music is a slightly different (the black metal influence). Amazing music.
