Descriptions of violence, gangland activity, and drug consumption are ironically intonated in a song that effectively praises rap as a form of liberation from such factors – a potential vehicle leading to destinations beyond the tremulous lifestyles of those afflicted by criminality/struggle.
“Rap Saved Me” was certified platinum by the RIAA on March 31, 2021. “Rap Saved Me” debuted at #74 on the Billboard Hot 100 for the week of November 18th, 2017 and peaked at #64 for the week of November 25th, 2017.
