"It's where you're at, not where you've been". Amy Winehouse there, inadvertently perfectly describing the memoryless property of Markov chains.

Yeah, it was excluded from the US version for some reason. I didn't own it either for a long time, but I finally got it after ordering the Frank & Back to Black box set last fall. I always knew the song existed existed, but to me it was brand new when I heard it last year. Knowing she had died made the lyrics seem especially poignant. I can appreciate people wishing that she "could have helped herself" and all that--the notion of course being that she needed to take her own advice--but I still appreciate the subtle wisdom in these lyrics. Despite her problems, I think she was an old soul.

A degree in philosophy is usually shown as a Ph.D., i.e a doctor of philosophy. However, some say the acronym actually stands for 'piss head's diploma' - this could be true in the cases of the (very) many students who regularly consume too much alcohol. :) C'est la vie, as is said in Espana.

Mind you the drums at the beginning sound like someone battering on two cake tins and tupperware :)

my favourite by her. really funny about the lyrics though cos she seemed so mature and forward thinking in the first album then she went and fucked up and its like she should have listened to her own advice. amazing song though.
