Now in 2022 there are a million bands that sound like this but aren't that good.

I haven't heard a band so far that has the same sound as Asylum Party. Post-punk today is very repetitive and excessively electronic, to the point that it has lost its identity. However, there are still some bands that try to have their own sound.

What do you mean by "post punk revival of 2020"? Post punk revival, to me, are bands like Interpol, Editors, She wants revenge, I love you but I've chosen darkness, Cut city, etc. Please suggest me some 2020 post punk revival stuff? :)

Honestly I thought that post punk revival was a different thing then. I don't know, have you heard Selofan?

For me post-punk revival is rather Skeleton Hands, Soft Kill, Ritual Howls, Veil of Light... still, nothing like our dear Asylum Party. Still beautiful and amazing, so I'm only 50-50 on Clau-Cineasta's "repetitive" - if we talk about some patterns or classic sound, then maybe, sure. Either way, post-punk revival being amazing doesn't make even one (not saying about millions, that sounds so weird) band remind me of Asylum Party. Closest are other French post-punks, being sadly similarly abandoned scene.

I suppose it was a bad idea to listen to them after breaking up with your girlfriend. But it was too late

I'm a big fan of French post-punk. That's why I strongly recommed you Marquis De Sade and Opéra de Nuit.

такой по дефолту немножечко французский колдвейв, но хороших песен достаточно.

Yeah fair enough, I think I was forcing the comparison based on the post punk stylings. My bad.

Aside from the "Le Secret" EP, I've never gotten much into Alcest. Asylum Party, however, is very near and dear to my heart. So this comparison is intriguing. Perhaps it is time to open up to Alcest, whom has never interested me much.

I've personally been getting back into Écailles de Lune pretty hard because I think it has the best approach to structure and theme, so I'd say that's probably worth your time.

йоб його йоб блять, данная музыка просто пиздатейшая, особенно под пьяные весенние/летние ночи на лавочке с пластиковыми стаканчиками у реки

It was a great choice to discover the Borderline album. Every song has its own special sounds and atmosphere. The vocals are ok, the bass guitar always great and the keyboard adds to the atmosphere. Very melancholic stuff. It all sounds very fitting for the year 1989 when it came out.

hard for me to even compare them to those two...but I do enjoy Asylum Party more than both.

Stop comparing bands and just enjoy the music... I love The Cure especially Faith and Pornography, and JD is great too, both in their own way. But I'm glad I discovered Borderline, it really has a very melancholic atmosphere.
