the world of art is free from borders and stupid politicians, because of which young people in Russia are forced to live in complete isolation from their favorite music, the whole world and any joy in life, normal artists understand this! We didn't choose war

dunno, if he boycotted my country bc of its shitty cryptofa politics I'd be totally fine with that, it's called priorities... but by all means, enjoy music and normalcy

Oh wow and I though Uwe was out of touch. No one's taking music away, we're talking a gig at a fest where tickets cost ~$80 not counting transport, food and lodging. And I read there were 8k tix available in total. How many young ppl could even afford to take part? You have theories, I have reality - life among refugees, trying to do sth to help them accommodate, seeing scared, desperate people, frightened for their relatives every single fuckin day... Happy escapism to you I guess, hope you don't come to regret it later in life

You are misdirecting your anger at the Russian government towards its citizens, many of whom are either brainwashed by propaganda or in strong opposition to the Ukraine war. Art is not oil or munitions, and embargoing it from Russia only hurts its citizens, who need music now more than ever. I genuinely hope you change your worldview to a more compassionate one in the near future.

Not much anger, srsly, it's mostly sadness and disappointment. Gov't and state don't exist w/o citizens - even if not actively supported, being passively accepted is enough for them to commit atrocities as we see. Can't agree on the need for music - culture (just like consumerism) is often used by tyrants as a safety valve, to sedate the society through escapism. And I already said above: no gig for a few well-off folks doesn't equal no music at all, be serious. My own country is also missing out on nice stuff because of a shitty gov't - but I understand and support that, I expect no compassion. Most of us here are also too comfy to act. All of this from a person that used to be super immersed in Russian culture and language, just browse my library. But that ended with the full-scale invasion, my compassion is with the victims of a barbaric war of aggression. If embargoes make the war an hour shorter, save one life they're worth it. Act of aggression precludes equality in suffering

this guy looks like a very disconcerting combo of a bourgeoisie european dude and the stillborn fetus from 2001. definitely accentuates his genius though.

ATOM TM COLD MEMORIES (SÄHKO 2xCD) Sahko has dug into its enviable archive and unearthed two precious hours of music by Uwe Schmidt, recorded to tape for a radio project commissioned by the Helsinki Museum Of Modern Art in ’94. Touching on raga-like minimalism, beat-driven ambient techno and what feels like a whole galaxy between, it’s a compact testament to the breadth, volume and unerring quality of Schmidt’s output, particularly in the 1990s. Whatever he creates in the future, Schmidt deserves to be remembered as one of the era’s most talented, visionary electronic artists. KS http://tinyurl.com/88mav3q
