It's weird to think that's the song that unites both of us. There's so much longing in there, so much nostalgia. And yet I didn't meet him before. It gives the unfortunately familiar sensation of watching my present from my future, and I don't know if I like that — it's filled with pain. But I like him, and I like this song, and I like this universe

The second half of this song is one of the greatest moments in music of all time in my opinion. The lyrics are some of the most poetic I've ever heard. They invoke a sense of sadness, yet happiness. they make me feel like I'm complete, yet i still have so much more to do. I'm not a religous person but this song makes me without a doubt believe there's something bigger than myself out there. The universe has put me on the path I'm on, the situations I've been in, and introduced me to the people I've met for a reason. and all of that is made even better because of the instrumental accompanying it. the instrumental is mind blowingly beautiful. it makes me feel like I'm in some kind of ethereal space that exists beyond anything we could possibly know like heaven or earth. of course this song wouldn't be what it is without the heavenly choir and Victoria's haunting vocals in the first half. every piece of this song alone could make me shed some tears, but together it's made me shed gallons.

I wrote a review on Days of Candy a little while ago. Here’s what I wrote: “Days of Candy makes me want to believe in something divine and larger than life. Days of Candy is not just simply a song, it is a reminder that while things move on and change—permanently staying in the past—there’s the good memories and the feelings that will last forever. Change sucks, but it’s the only constant in our constantly-changing life. A little bit of *you,* I’ll always keep it close to me. Wherever you go, the Universe truly is riding off with you.” TL;DR: Days of Candy is my favorite song of all time

sounds like a catholic hymn [2] It's hard to shake this, but it's such a beautiful track.

The first bit (until 2:50) sounds an awful like "This House Is Empty Now" by Elvis Costello & Burt Bacharach here and there. http://www.last.fm/de/music/Elvis+Costello/_/This+House+Is+Empty+Now
