I've tried, but i think I'm still not ready to listen to their new materials since David passed away.

Oh God i love this band so so much! The Likes of Us is beautiful, still a lot to digest and enjoy on this album. Oblivion and Miramare made me shed a tear

BIG BIG TRAIN WELCOME NEW LEAD VOCALIST ALBERTO BRAVIN Big Big Train have recruited Alberto Bravin as lead vocalist following the tragic death of David Longdon in November 2021. Based in Trieste, Italy, Alberto performed around 200 shows with progressive rock legends PFM between 2015 and January 2022, singing lead and backing vocals and playing keyboards. Alberto Bravin says: “I am extremely honoured to have the opportunity to join BBT. I was already a huge BBT fan and am looking forward to playing my part in taking this great band forward while also honouring the memory of David Longdon.”

Wow, I thought the name Dave Gregory was familiar, as I've seen him play live for XTC. Now as guitarist for Big Big Train.

This site used to have English Electric Part 2 as one of the band's releases but no more. How did that happen? The album is still on last.fm in its many grammatic variations but none of them link to the band's wall and as a result, when I play The Permanent Way, there is no album sleeve for the scrobble and last.fm thinks it is from Part 1. Has last.fm messed up the links in trying to fix the many variations? Will someone please sort this out?

Are their early albums as good or interesting as the most modern ones? So far I've listened to Grimspound, Second Brightest Star and EE Part I, being this one my favourite so far.

Second listen to Grimspound, and I'm struck by the richness of the instrumentation. The influences are obvious, but none of it is slavish recreation of past progressive rock. Listen to the honest sound of "Meadowland."

One of the rare bands on whose albums you will rarely find yourself skipping a track. I just recently in the past 2 weeks started listening to their old album Gathering Speed. I didn't expect much since it is almost never mentioned by anyone, even fans of the band. But hell, it's right up there with their best albums. Just insanely good music with so much talent poured into each track. Fighter Command, The Road Much Further On, and Powder Monkey are among the band's best tracks in their entire catalog.

One of few prog bands that manages to be fun without being absolutely ridiculous, refreshing to hear just simple fun set to prog rock.
