the instrumental moments in between the verses are actually really important to the song. it sort of represents the change of scenery throughout the relationship she’s singing about, while letting you fully digest what was said on each line before moving onto the next one. also, the progression on this track is insane. the way it gets slightly more intense and then lets itself go again at the end. this is truly a masterpiece and vulnicura is a top 3 album in björk’s discography imo.

The lyrics on this track seem kinda … obvious. (Except the last verse.) But my God, the instrumentation and Björk's vocals are brilliant. All these pauses and hesitations, they make the rather simple lines oddly powerful. This might be the most sensitive song I've ever heard. I almost feel dirty listening to it, as if it enables me to look into Björk's soul.
