"Pagan Poetry" is a love song about the spiritual connection between two people. The singer is pedalling through the dark currents and finding an accurate copy of another person's pleasure inside of her. This connection is described as a secret code carved with swirling black lilies, and even though it is a simple pleasure on the surface, it is also deeply romantic and spiritual. The song then talks about Morse coding signals and how they wake the singer up from her hibernation. In the outro, the singer expresses her love for this person, claiming that although he makes her want to hand herself over, she will keep this love to herself this time. This theme is reflective of paganism, where the individual's connection to the divine is deeply personal, and the beauty and spirituality of love is celebrated.
