Praise Armageddonism is a solid release. This is their only album that I have anticipated before its actual release, so I do think my first few listens did suffer from already having listened to half the album. However, after a few listens it all started to sound a bit more like an album to me rather than separate singles I'd already heard. I honestly think that people who have an issue with the new album are probably just bored of Blood Command's deathpop sound. If you listen to their earlier stuff, it's all just as aggressive and catchy as this stuff is.

I don't think they're bored of the overall sound, I think they're just butthurt about the vocalist change. I think it might have to do with the fact that the songs for Praise Armageddonism were written with Karina in mind but re-recorded with Nikki (who doesn't have Karina's range and obviously strains on more than a few tracks). I'm waiting to see what they do next, with songs written for Nikki's actual vocal range... I have a feeling it will fit more naturally.

After finally seeing the band live last year, I would be inclined to agree with you. I think they opened (or near enough) with Saturday City and it was clear that Nikki was straining her voice a lot for the song. It's difficult because Blood Command have gathered a cult following of passionate fans over the years, and for them to not quite hit the nail on the head with Nikki's first release means that she will inevitably bare the brunt of the backlash, which is unfortunate. I am hoping that the band can write more music sooner rather than later that allows Nikki to show what she can do.

New album is okay, has some good songs (including some that were not released before in the EP) but as someone stated before, they clearly peaked at Cult Drugs

After hearing the 3 new songs, I'm pretty convinced that they peaked at Cult Drugs. The new songs are just a bland decoction of earlier songs, The End is Her sounds like a straight copy paste of the song "Cult Drugs"? What's up with that? Were they out of inspiration? I can not get myself to like the new singer's screaming voice either. There is something very annoying about it. Her singing voice is good though.

The 2019 EP was better than Cult Drugs. I agree with you about the new stuff / new singer, though. This is the first time I've had to force myself to enjoy their songs.

Music officially peaked with the release of "(The World Covered In) Purple Shrouds" and I'm afraid nothing will ever be as good ever again.

Agree to disagree. I'm not sure how you can listen to a song like "Purple Shrouds" and then say that with a straight face.

This isn't my typical genre, but I found these crazy fucks from Spotify discover. I'm totally hooked. Anybody have any recommendations for similar stuff? I love the mix of heavy to poppy. Like, it doesn't come across to me as stuff that takes itself too seriously and is just good heavy fun. I bet this band is stupidly fun live.

I think the overly ridiculous music video from Within Temptation's Mother Earth did its part back in 2001 on MTV...and an annoying bitchin' Anette Olzon at a festival 2008, when I was waiting for Metallica to play. Wow, thanks for the reminder of these self-defining teenage moments. :-D just kidding, I don't really see this as a genre...so I don't really care but it just happened this way.

I recommend you check out Velcra. They remind me a bit of Blood Command except a bit lighter and more electronic. Much of the same attitude though!

They're even better than I remember; hooks yes, but also surprising depth and left-field influences. Don't know how they write so many songs with so much variety.
