Brainbombs is a delight in the orgy of perversions, the joy of killing, the triumph of filth. Bodychoke is a rare regret and understanding of one's own vices, mixed with exceptional anger and recognition of one's desires, but without any satisfaction. Nothing at the cost of everything.

Brainbombs would burp their spleen out in amusement if anyone told them they're aiming at "thought-provoking music". They simply revel in true crime & perverted filth and jam out shit-crusted Stooges riffs for their own drunk-ass entertainment. No need to spoil their gar(b)age rock shitfun with any highbrow aspirations. Bodychoke is another category, they were about refinement, deliciously layered sound and nuanced songwriting since the first album. In other words, it's all about blood mixed with shit mixed with blood, but Brainbombs is smut, while Bodychoke is poetry.

I'd say Bodychoke are in perfectly fine company here. Of course, those "related artists" don't follow the same formula composition-wise, but they are representatives of the same context - late 80s & early 90s was a time when many of those who previously specialised in industrial tape-loops / noise abrasions / sound-collage weirdness decided to try out rock music and peculiar ways of rearranging it according to the themes, concepts and aesthetics of industrial music. In this sense - Skullflower, Ramleh, Pain Teens and Bodychoke definitely share a very similar spirit, while the fact that they're miles away from being copycats in their methodology is only for the best.

Sex crime reflections through psychedelic deathtrips, self-loathing dirges of 86-87 Swans and some gothic rock melancholy. In terms of sound most firmly tied to the British noisy psych coming from the Brogen Flag label background (on the stage of former PE big shots picking up rock instruments in the late 80s), but really stand out with their focused songwriting, making the most refined and beautiful master/slave rock imaginable on their 3 consistently strong albums.

MilitaryTwoStep, "Sutcliffe Jugend" is much better than this - the copy of the Swans' "Children of God" period.

it's unbelievable to me that someone who is a disgusting hack fraud, of the sort that participates in "power electronics" - ie shitty english harsh noise - actually had enough talent (and social connections) to make a decent band and then decided "thank god i got all that actual effort and competency out of my system, now i can go back to being a hack fraud". it's like you spent 40 years spitting your guts out through a clarinet, picked up the violin for a week and moved thousands to tears, then threw it in the trash and went back to ol' spitty. fuck.

I think more limes and grapefruits, they are accessible to the same crowds and have similar instrumentation at times. I can still tell the difference with my eyes closed, but to compare them is not too unfair.

I love Neurosis, but no, that would be truth. Maybe Neurosis is the better band because of their vast, luscious discography, but Cold River Songs is as good if not better than any Neurosis album.
