Biography

Brazilian Octopus was a musical project from São Paulo. The first line-up was formed by Lanny Gordin (electric guitar), Cido Bianchi (piano, organ), Olmir Stocker (acoustic and electric guitar), Douglas de Oliveira (bass), João Carlos Pegoraro (vibraphone), Carlos Alberto Alcântara (sax and flute), Cazé (sax) and Matias (contrabass) . Cazé and Matias were soon replaced by multi-instrumentalist Hermeto Pascoal and contrabassist Nilson Matta. Funded by chemical industry Rhodia, the group released a self-titled album in 1968 by record company Fermata.
