Poses with a fender tele and leather jacket on the album cover... turns out to be a piano record

I really really really dislike the production on this album. The songs are great (don't get me wrong I love the boss), but I just can't enjoy it. I prefer The River or Born in the USA. But hey, that's just my opinion, if you love this album good on ya.

i love this album, but u did have a point about the production. The songs are extraordinary and the arrangements are great, but i feel like the result would be even better if i could hear those drums crystal-clear. It's a similar impression to that I get from All Things Must Pass: it could be one of the bests of all time if it was not for the production.

damn I actually came here to comment the same thing haha. I love the song Jungleland from a writing standpoint so much, but im listening to it now with headphones instead of my crappy laptop speakers, and I cant get over how flat and empty it sounds. I lack the knowledge to describe exactly why, but the only decent one in this regard is Tenth avenue freeze-out, and even then his voice sounds a little compressed.

maybe it has something to do with the fact that we both listen to so much steely dan lmao. spoiled in terms of productions quality

One of the best albums ever recorded. Jungleland may be the best album closer ever.

I was working as a skating rink guard when this was dominating everyone;s home stereos, as radio didn't promote this MASTERFUL LP too much in my town. Should be in EVERYONE'S LIBRARY!

This album got me through a year of pushing carts at Walmart for minimum wage when I was twenty years old. Thanks, Boss! You have no idea what these songs meant to me then.

This album is pretty funny when you imagine Silvio from the Sopranos playing the guitar.

This could be the greatest lyrical album ever recorded. So, so, so amazingly incredible.

I hate this music so much. I can't stand it at all and I don't understand why and I feel like I must be missing SOMETHING in it when I listen and I hear what I hear. Like, was this really The Hold Steady's biggest influence? They sound nothing alike and The Hold Steady is leagues better. I just can't grasp what the appeal is.

Yeah, actually. Still can't get too much into Born to Run (the album) but the song's an unimpeachable classic. Darkness at the Edge of Town and Nebraska were the albums that really changed my mind on Springsteen. I'm glad I came around — that six-year-old comment is a bit embarrassing to read!

It took me a long time to get into this album but I eventually did. I was never really a fan of the "wall of sound" type of productions. Im more into the raw stuff like Darkness or Nebraska. I finally got into this one about two years ago. A real piece of studio art. Given he was on such a short leash with the record company at the time its amazing he was able to pull off such a great sounding album. I would have thought they'd try to give him the least amount of money as they could get away with at the time.

well, the reality is that clarence clemons was cut out of that frame - to speak of the record sleeve reverentially in the wake of his passing seems hypocritical and sort of pointless. this was hardly a 'breakthrough' for african american culture.

RIP Clarence Clemons. No one will ever be able to replace you. Can't believe I'm actually emotional over this. Listening to this for the first time in quite a while.

Hey impronen, obviously you have no respect for the story-like lyrics. You know...it's not for everyone, but you have to give credit to his ability to convey a strong message.

I listened to this for the first time in my life a few months back. Have to say that, since I was expecting a tight, stadiumrock record, the reality of it was quite harsh. Theathratical musical songs played via electric guitars, accompanied by cheesy horns. Not to mention the silly, silly lyrics. One of the most overrated albums ever.
