Like a finely tuned time machine, listening to this classic transports me back to Hermosa Beach, summer of 1984 when this tune ~ one of the AllTime great rock ballads ~ ruled the USA air waves all summer and Beyond,,......

I find it funny when people trash this and say that only Nebraska is good, when this u is a actually his most personal song

It’s the only one where he talks about his own issues, everything else he does is storytelling from other people’s perspective

You def make a good point that this song does that in contrast to a lot of his other work!, but it's not the ONLY one; "My Father's House", "Adam Raised A Cain", "Independence Day", "Growin' Up", "The Promise", a lot of the LT (and some HT) material like "Living Proof", "Real World", "Book of Dreams" etc., "Cautious Man" (though that's through the perspective of a character), "Ain't Got You", and much of Letter to You come to mind. I think HT/LT are particularly heavy on this and then it comes up more frequently after that than it had beforehand. Still, great call that this is a very personal song!

I love this song so much, I love the lyrics, I love the sound, I love the delivery, I love the way it makes me feel and the way it makes me want to act. I love how well it translates to my experiences as a queer person, as a person who grew up lower middle class. This is what the concept of an anthem was made for. I know it's a bit of a cliched Bruce song to love so much, but man. I'm not gonna fight my love for it.

now Bob Dylan fooled the world for decades claiming to have written many of the melodies to his hit songs when in fact most of the melodies were from preexisting songs that he did not write, including Blowin In The Wind. In a last nail in the coffin scenario James Damiano's movie "Eleven Years" draws the straw that breaks the camel's back, rivets Bob Dylan to his secret past of plagiarism and rewrites musical history"......Virtue Films

I saw Bruce and the E-Street band live in South Africa last year and it was an awesome concert! We this song I will never forget the whole stadium 60000 strong sang with him! This man would not stop and barely paused between tracks - his concert finished well past midnight! He is one of the all time greatest live performers!
