The debut album from CNCO, 2016's Primera Cita, showcases the group's dynamic mix of Latin pop and dance-oriented R&B. The album follows in the wake of the group's hugely successful year after winning the first season of the televised vocal competition La Banda. Showcased in CNCO are the multi-national talents of Christopher Velez (Ecuador), Erick Brian Colon (Cuba), Joel Pimentel (Mexico), Richard Camacho (Dominican Republic) and Zabdiel de Jesus (Puerto Rico). Together, they make a hooky brand of harmonized Latin pop that combines traditional and contemporary influences. Included on Primera Cita are the Billboard charting singles "Tan Facil" and "Quisiera."
The album debuted at number one on the Billboard Top Latin Albums chart with first-week sales of 11,000 copies in the United States. It also accumulated over one million streams on Spotify in just hours after its release. Primera Cita was the best-selling Latin debut album of 2016 in the United States and Puerto Rico. The album also debuted in the top 10 in 15 countries, including number one in Bolivia, Ecuador and Guatemala.
The album was the recipient for the Lo Nuestro Award for Pop Album of the Year at the 29th ceremony
