The re-recorded version of "Cute Thing", previously seen on Car Seat Headrest's 2011 album "Twin Fantasy (Mirror to Mirror)".

Compared to the older version of the song, the 2018 version contains certain lyrical changes, such as the replacement of Dan Bejar and John Entwistle with Frank Ocean and James Brown and the removal of a Stanley Kubrick reference from the outro.

The subtitle for this song on the vinyl edition's lyrics sheet is "(Paul we know)".

According to Toledo from an interview with Peyton Thomas:

"Cute Thing is just pure swagger, it's just energy, nonsense lyrics on top of a rock song. Which actually, a lot of the best (They Might Be Giants) songs are like that, but it goes into something more pure at the end."

In regard to the "Ana Ng" interpolation present in the song and how he got clearance to incorporate it, Toledo commented:

"There's not a big story - I haven't been in touch with (TMBG) personally, but I heard that they're fans, which is great to hear. We're sending a few copies of the record to them."
