70x better than Symbolic and Sound of Perseverance by Death (I just listen to many would-be-from-Death-melodic-era riffs, but, well, well composed, and some years ahead)

Am I one of the ultra rare Carcass fans who loves this album and also loves the first Carcass album? It seems to me a lot of the Carcass fans who love the first album, despise Heartwork and shit all over it. I highly enjoy this album a lot and I actually find it to be significantly better than the first couple of albums. It's way better than the third album. This album is a masterpiece.

I'm with you Devin. I love this album. This was the first Carcass album I bought back in the mid 90s, and songs like Carnal Forge and Death Certificate bring back all kinds of memories. I like the earlier stuff, but this is the sound I associate with Carcass and tend to prefer their post-goregrind stuff.

I too agree with your entire statement, and I like to listen even to the first demo!

Still better than any At The Gays and Anal Flames, but not their best, for sure!

his message seems so 2004's... lol how idiot you gotta be to use a play with words calling something gay to actually offend it, in 2021??? or 2019, in his case (not a big difference)

I gotta agree with ya on this. I haven't been into At the Gays since their comeback album (horrible vocals, his vocals sound so shot). Anal Flames' first few albums are OK, but then went ghey when they became soft.

Yeah, if someone wanted to try our Melodeath, I would give them this album or Quo Vadis' "Day Into Night."

try some of their newer albums, they kick ass...and maybe give their first 2 grindcore albums a shot, as they're very good too

You like only like Heartwork the song or the album? Why tf would you give surgical steel away? Literally recorded using the same time, modern production

I like Heart work the song. I don't like the surgical steel album. I like the way Heart work sounds.

A masterpiece. Their best IMO. The first time I heard it back in the days just blew me away!

I'm gonna have to say this is probably Carcass's best album. I love Carnal Forge and This Mortal Coil the most.

I can't believe i missed this masterpiece , I am metalhead since the age of 11, and somehow I always refused to listen to this artist and similiar artists in particularly, now i found Heartwork cassete on ebay, bought it, play it, and I am fascinated. 10/10

To me, this sounds in some ways like Dismember and Entombed. Probably why I love Carcass so much. All three bands had very alive and kick-ass drummers as well (I'm a drummer myself). Masterpiece!
