‘'So Emotional’‘ was originally supposed to be the second single from Aguilera’s debut album, after ’‘Genie In A Bottle’‘. She performed it live a few times to promote the album, but she told her management that she strongly disagrees with the decision. She said that she would be ’‘a one-hit wonder’‘ had the single been released after ’‘Genie’‘. Considering the pop explosion that occurred in music at the time, this more mid tempo, laid back track was probably not the best choice to release commercially, and she got her wish.
’‘So Emotional’‘ is one of Christina’s earliest R&B flavoured tracks in her catalogue.
