Adult Swim’s third annual Singles Programme is already well under way, having featured sterling contributions from Flying Lotus, Wavves and more.
The latest to pitch in on the series is New York-raised, New Jersey-based retro-futurist Com Truise. Truise’s debut album on Ghostly last year, Galactic Melt, was a luscious assortment of hazy analogue synth jams, drawing on a distinctly John Carpenter-esque aesthetic but with its sights set on some bright, cosmic future.
‘Chemical Legs’ treads similar boards, all twinkly, detuned synths and lo-fi drum machine chug, and amply showcases Truise’s characteristic knack for a subtly buried, addictive hook. The producer’s vocal makes a rare appearance too, whispering plaintively from the depths of the mix.
