A perfect album, the movie is a fun watch too but the album is absolutely essential working as its own standalone work. I see it as a darker version of "What's Going On", portraying drug filled streets with a strong social message capturing the pitfalls of the hustler lifestyle.

the moment where it seems that the album ends and the bass of Superfly starts

His best album. Not just a bunch of super groovy tunes, but also a great social message as well. Sadly, people didn't listen to Mr. Mayfield.

I think Curtis is better musically and for the message it sends. Superfly is his second best.. I agree that it's a major bummer more people don't listen to Curtis Mayfield

Given the content of the film "Superfly" and its gritty look at the drug culture, Curtis painted a magical picture of love, angst, and triumph with this album. In my humble opinion, "Superfly" is my favorite soundtrack of all-time. Throw in "Purple Rain" as 1-b!
