After their first success on Dababy’s 3rd studio album BLAME IT ON BABY with the track JUMP, the duo has then released two notable performances including Thug Of Spades and a joint feature on Gucci Mane’s Richer Than Everybody soliciting fans to speculate a project with the two most controversial artists of the past few months.
Commonly known to be boycotted by the industry, the alliance between the two rappers also appears to be political with Dababy acknowledging Youngboy to be his “favorite and yet an underrated rapper”.
This project also follows some very mediatized public feud such as :
- The Dababy’s festival boycott due to his homophobic statements
- The dispute confronting Dababy and Danileigh
- The bowling alley fist fight against Brandon Bills
- The Youngboy’s mediatized court case leaving him in Utah
- The Youngboy’s diss track I Hate Youngboy pointing fingers at many actors of the industry.
As fans were starting to get overwhelmed by a possible collaboration, Dababy hinted the public by throwing a double track BESTIE/HIT on his YouTube channel January 11th. A month later, the Charlotte rapper also did a surprise appearance on Power 106 Radio LA Leakers episode 131 and delivers a well-acclaimed freestyle. From Youngboy’s side, the Baton Rouge native is dropping his 4th project in less than a semester including one studio album, one mixtape and another collab album with Birdman.
