The track was recorded early in 2014 with the Maria Schneider Orchestra and produced by Bowie and Tony Visconti. The video for Sue was filmed in New York and London and directed by Tom Hingston and Jimmy King. Re-recorded versions of both the song and its B-side, "'Tis a Pity She Was a Whore, appear on Bowie's twenty-sixth studio album, Blackstar.
