Gore is the eighth studio album by the American alternative metal band Deftones. It was released on 8 April 2016. The lead single Prayers/Triangles was released on 4 February 2016. The album was produced by Matt Hyde and Deftones. It features a guest appearance from Alice in Chains guitarist Jerry Cantrell. Bassist Sergio Vega used a six-string bass guitar to record the new material, helping to explore a new, different sound.
In May 2015, Chino Moreno (lead vocals, rhythm guitar) gave some details on the new album to Kerrang!: "The music is what inspires the lyrics and the songs have a lot of different moods. I'm not gonna say it's a happy record, it's not a completely angry record".
Moreno poked fun at one of Kanye West's tweets by stating: "Out of respect for Pac, Big, Stevie, Michael, Hendrix, Gore is ONE of the greatest albums not the greatest, just one of".
A second single, Doomed User, was released on 16 March.
