I've seen Devy 3 times over the years (SYL, DTP and DT) and nothing will match how good his album run as DTP and the live experience of it was. Hands down my favourite era of his!

After over a decade, the warmth of Epicloud is still such an effective mood booster. Near and dear to my heart, like the best of cheese fondues.

At the end of the day (literally most of the time), I enjoy Devin's work here or solo over Strapping Young Lad. However, I'm also a rabid SYL fan, so that should indicate how deep my love for DTP runs. And like many of my fellows, I think Casualties of Cool is one of the greatest things he's ever made.

I understand the need to move on, but this is probably going to remain my favorite era of his career. Ki, Addicted, Epicloud, and Sky Blue are all favorites. Didn't dislike anything he did during this period. Casualties of Cool is probably my favorite album ever even if it's not a DTP release. Same era though

The Heretic has showed itself. Blessed be thy Deconstruction. The Cheeseburger is all knowing. This man does not know of the secrets contained within the bun.

Ki is probably my favourite from tis project (and Casualties as a side project); it contains so many shifts in mood. I'm a massive fan of The Gathering and love Anneke with Devin, but anytime the man collabs with Ché Aimee they go above and beyond what I expect.

Ki is truly Devin at his most restrained and, together with Casualties of Cool, some of his best work. Whenever he goes all out on the other hand like on Transcendence or Empath, it just degenerates into schizophrenic noise at some point, which is fun for ten minutes but afterwards become jarring.

I've been listening to extreme metal for 20 years by now, I love a lot of complex stuff, but Devin's schizophrenic albums annoy me. It's not that I don't understand what he tries to do, it's just I don't think it's worth doing. There's lots of other artists (also in metal) who write complex, rollercoaster songs and albums which don't sound like 10 different songs randomly chopped up and mixed in a blender, and I've grown up on Opeth for crying out loud.

As a kind of sideline fan of Strapping Young Lad, I've had a mild interest REGARDING Devin's other work. Avoided it all for the most part til recently. I started listening to DVP just a few days ago. Wasn't initially blown away, but I loved the energy and the mood that it set.. But then, I couldn't stop listening.. It hit me after hearing Ziltoid and Zed squared, that I became a full fledged fan, and now have to hear ALL OF IT. What a great talent. Cheers Mr Townsend!

Same thing happened to me.Between January and now, it's been almost exclusively Devin Townsend related music.

Damn, that seems to be how Devin draws people in. At first, nothing really impressed me, then all of a sudden, I listened to Ki and Addicted again and I was blown away.

Devin is one of my blindspots. But now I'm digging into his stuff and loving everything I hear.

I'm actually kind of happy he is leaving DTP behind. Devin was always about evolvement, about discovering something new, and I feel like these last 2-3 albums were kind of a stand still. Musically they are too much of the same for me and that's the first time I felt like this across his vast discography. So yeah, I'm really excited about Empath and everything Devin is planning!

All of my "Addicted" scrobbles went lost. Turned out they're now stored under 'The' DTP. The rest remains under DTP. Can people stop fucking up the tags already? There must be ten or so tags for Devin's music already.

I don't know how many people in here are aware of the existence of the British band "Cardiacs", but I have the feeling they have really been an inspiration for the more quirky, chaotic and at the same time poppy side of Devin's discography (Especially Infinity). Devin himself has expressed his admiration of the band, specifically the record "Sing to God". They're severely underrated to me, so give them a listen :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ax9yT3t1jSI Here's an article where Devy talks about cardiacs: https://www.loudersound.com/features/my-prog-world-devin-townsend

Much more artists could be like this, if they had complete artistic freedom as well. Devy just really went for that and chose integrity above a high paycheck.

A remarkable and super heavy metal and prog artist, and yet, my favorite album of him is Ghost, a new age ambient album, bizarre don't you think?

Sad to hear that it looks like there won't be any more DTP albums. I enjoyed this project incredibly and they're some of my favorite albums ever. Addicted, Deconstruction, Epicloud, Z2...what a great run. :')

One of my favorite artists of all-time. My favorite albums are Ghost and Transcendence. Ghost is an album I can't stop listening too, and the production is so profound with each listen you hear something new in the mix. My favorite song is Ghost, a masterpiece.

In case Devin doesn't revive DTP down the line, I've gotta say he ended this project on a peak. 'Transcendence' is my favorite work by DTP and an overall top-3 favorite by Devin Townsend, counting all his projects. Simply grandeur.

My first DT love was and still is City. I'd probably say Transcendence is number two. The third is either Ocean Machine or Terria, as they're more or less on par to me. But it's still quite hard to choose because I love most of the man's work.

I'm looking forward to his new projects. Devin is not someone who can not NOT make music. He hasn't disappointed me ever. He's the best DIY example in music I can think of. Selling out Royal Albert Hall without a major label behind him is not something that will quickly be repeated by someone else.

Just listened to their latest album and I like it. To be honest though, I'm not a huge fan of instrumental music, but I like the atmospheres on it.

It's 2018 and it's OK to listen to Korpiklaani in full earnestness again. Not next year though.

Oh, what a fucking snoozefest. It's neither a ballsy album a'la Addicted or Deconstruction, nor it's a deeply atmospheric album like Terria or Ocean Machine. It's basically just a lullaby album.

Well, it's all about taste I guess. I don't think there's a way to find out where that comes from. Some people like things, other people don't. I loathe Opeth for example, some people think I'm crazy for having that opinion. I think it's one of the coolest things about music, the way it 'touches' (a bit too new-age, I know.. sorry) people in different ways.

In case anyone missed it, Ziltoid Live album from last year features fan-requested songs like Namaste and Death of Music. This is amazing.
