Kevin Rowland is the singer of Dexys, who had under the name Dexys Midnight Runners with "Come On Eileen" their greatest success. After the third album in 1982 the eccentric Rowland splinted the band and started a commercially disastrous running solo career. The fourth Dexys album "One Day i'm Going To Soar" appeared whole 27 years later - Nowhere Is Home.

"I remember thinking, 'We're really onto something here.'" - "Come On Eileen" was a colossal '80s hit, but Dexys Midnight Runners released just three albums before their split. Now, Dexys is back. Frontman Kevin Rowland and trombonist Jim Paterson chatted with us about their long-in-the-making fourth album, One Day I'm Going to Soar, and how they came up with "Eileen": http://www.songfacts.com/blog/interviews/dexys_kevin_rowland_and_jim_paterson_/

Yeah, otherwise they would probably shit on Rowland for pulling something similar to Billy Corgan....the whole 'this is not the real SP anymore!!' kind of thing. Great move out of all the missteps Kevin has had in his career..

Probably to draw attention towards the new material, create a distinction from Dexys Midnight Runners

One Day I'm Going to Soar is easily the most bland and dull album of the year. How is Gregory Porter a similar artist? This is the most soulless 'soul' album I've ever heard.

Absolutely loving 'One Day I'm Going To Soar'. Worth the wait. The passion still burns as brightly as ever. I'm stunned that 2012 has already yielded two really amazing albums by two of my all time heroes - John Lydon and Kevin Rowland. It's a strange and wonderful world and no mistake...
