I am a dreamer. I would like to go back to college major in music. I need a new car. I need yellow people to correct me.

Seems like Dio's most personal record. His From the Inside or something you could say. Instead of his typical fantasy lyrics we get songs about crippling fear, broken aspirations and existential dread. Something about that combination makes it my go to Dio record to play right before hitting the hay.

It took me a long time to get round to this album. Probably because of the lack of Vivian Campbell. Craig Goldy is a great guiatarist, but I agree that with the comments about Blackmore influence below. This is a great album, agree that the first half is much stronger. Love Faces In the Window and I Could Have Been A Dreamer from the flip.

Very strong release! The A-side is better than B, but I think all the songs are very good. One thing about this album, though, is that the then new guitarist Graig Goldy feels maybe a little too much like a Ritchie Blackmore wanna-be (the main-riff in Dream Evil is very much alike the riff in Man On The Silver Mountain, for instance). I miss Vivian Campbell's aggressive playing here. But otherwise, I'd call it another masterpiece of Dio's.

As a little one my uncle had this album and the cover used to scare the hell out of me. Just imagining that thing watching me while I sleep. Stuff like that must be why I love horror films so much now.

This is phenomenal album and has some killer tracks on it and I think the majority would agree :)

Possibly my favorite. Would be even better without all the synths, but still killer.

This album is an improvement from Sacred Heart, but still fails to live up to the legacy of the incredible Holy Diver and is also inferior to the next album Lock Up the Wolves. "Night People" and "Dream Evil" are the only songs I really care for. "All the Fools Sailed Away" is a good song, but as emotive as it may be, it's just not as memorable as a song like "Lonely Is the Word" from Sabbath's Heaven and Hell record. While the rest of the songs aren't particularly bad, they fail to leave much of an impression.

the god of metal was good to Dio- much of this album brought motivation where the passing of my youth & dreams had ceased to exist.....realizing associations evolve into experience ,wisdom ,& old friends - releasing mental anchors gave renewed vigor ,insight & goals.

Love this album, but I feel it goes downhill on the second side. The solo on Night People blows me away every time...
